Cheers Arizona Senate approves no permit concealed carry !!!

Check it out.

http://www.kpho.com/politics/22406686/detail.html

PHOENIX -- An Arizona Senate committee has approved a bill that would allow people to carry a concealed weapon without a permit.

The Senate Judiciary Committee approved the measure Monday on a 4-3 party-line vote.

Mesa Republican Sen. Russell Pearce is sponsoring the measure.

He says it is designed to preserve constitutional rights and to reduce legal barriers preventing law-abiding citizens from protecting themselves.

Opponents worry it would lead to more violence.

Arizona Association of Chiefs of Police lobbyist John Thomas says the measure would "take Arizona back into Wild-West carry with no consideration for officer safety."

It now goes to the full Senate after a legal review. A House committee is scheduled to hear a similar bill Wednesday.

Citizens who can legally own a gun should be able to carry it in all states.

This is an interesting move.. in Pa, you only have to make application, get the background check, (which they do right there) pay the fee and you get a CHL. Its a bit more work in Tx, but my wife and I have one in both states. I am all for allowing open carry as well.. makes it easy for chunky guys like me to carry.. I believe Vermont has open carry and some Western states as well..

The one thing that did happen in Pa, more specifically Philly, is that when you could get a CHL that easy, crime dropped like a rock.. I am betting that it will drop in Az as well. I understand the police's concern, but bad guys are going to carry concealed, they just dont care if its legal or not..
