CASA CD Release soon!
For the past 2 1/2 months, I have been working on a CD for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for abused and neglected children) and it has finally been sent to the studio for mastering, so it will be ready for release in a few weeks. The CD is titled "Looking for a Rainbow" and will be available via CASA-initially through a few local CASA's and later via the national office as well we hope. 100% of the proceeds benefit CASA. This CD is a compiliation of songs that were each supplied by the artists. Artists include Shawn Phillips, Shake Russell, Carolyn Wonderland, Marcia Ball, Clay McClinton, Larry Wilson, Ginger Leigh and many more.
A very limited number of copies will be available through me-as few as 15 copies immediately after release. After that, you will only be able to get it through CASA while supplies last.
This has been an extremely gratifying endeavor. The artists (both musical and paint), sound engineers, studio, and myself all contributed pro bono and the packaging and distributing company is doing that at their cost. To be a part of so many people and companies coming together across continents (literally) to benefit one organization and ultimately kids is incredible. The result has been an incredible album that anyone who appreciates music will want to have.
I will keep you posted as to the exact release date. I have a couple of pre-release orders and will gladly accept more orders-I would love to be able to tell CASA that we already sold "X" number of copies even before release!

Is she volunteering for CASA of Travis? That is one of the CASA offices I want to deliver a few copies to but I don't know anyone at that one.
BTW: I left out Shelley King, who provided a great tune backed by The Subdudes.

Thanks for the kudos, but it is an organization I believe in, so it is simply something I want to do.
Gilbert: ask you wife to make sure her office has a heads up on the CD. My plan is to distribute to a few offices in Texas and to the national office. Hopefully, they will realize quickly what a great fund raising tool the CDs are and will continue the distribution beyone what I can supply them. I am only trying to recoup half of my expenses, which consists only for the cost of the CD packaging and duplication of the CD's and I am doing that by selling a few directly (15 or less). Thanks go to all the artists who donated the use of thier songs, the studio and packaging and duplicaton company that is working at cost-wthout all of those people, I couldn't do this.

I told her to check today. She has a court hearing and then some office work right after.

Thanks, Gilbert. It looks like I will only have 10 CD's available for pre-release purchase. The rest go to CASA offices. I should have CD's available next week and the release date is expected to be Feb. 15th.

It's come a long ways since you heard the early cut-I think I have attached the title song by the incredible LeeAnn Atherton-Looking for a Rainbow. Larry is performing with LeeAnn Saturday at Poodies if you can make a roadtrip. BTW: A huge thanks to all the artists that contributed songs for the CD, some of which are songs written just for this CD, to Rodd at Ironrodd Studios for contributing the mastering of the CD, to Affordable Sounds for providing the packaging and duplication at cost, to my wife for the awesome album art, and for CASA for all they do.

Thanks, Sammie. I'll keep that in mind. I am fortunate to be surrounded by an incredible group of professionals that never cease to amaze me. I've attached one more sample from the CD. This is Summerwine by The official musician of the State of Texas, Shelley King. She is backed up by The Subdudes on this one.

Wow, def laid-back and yup that's the Subdudes, ya can tell. Wish we could book Shelley and the 'Dudes down here on SPI. It don't pay good but hey, it's warm and there's a beach and the rent, food, and booze are for free, why not? Anyways ... great tune!

There is rock and roll for the rockers and country for the country fans on the CD too. Nothing real hard, but some rockin' stuff. If there isn't something you like on this CD, you aren't a music fan.

Larry Wilson sat in with LeeAnn Atherton at Poodies tonight. She did an awesome rendition of "Looking for a Rainbow" and talked about the CASA CD. Great show!

Well, it has taken longer than expected to get the CD mastered. The studio mastered the CD pro bono and was working on it in their spare time, so I'm not complaining-to the contrary, I am grateful to Rodd at Ironrodd studios for donating his time and expertise. I should be able to get the art, etc in for packaging next week. Because of the longer than exxpected turn around time, the release date has been moved to March 1, 2010. The CD will intitially be available from CASA of Travis and (I think) CASA of Bastrop. I will have a hand full of pre-release copies available for $15 next week. I think I have 8 pre-release copies left.
